In the 1980's Donald Dobbins started an Epie Collection, which mostly came from Cactus Pete in Alhambra Ca. As a good collector might do, he would trim, repot and start new epies with the cutting. It was a large and wonderful collection. When he passed over in 1987 the entire collection was given to Patricia Dobbins. When we took over the collection, it was certain that there were many duplicates and we knew that there were over 10,000 hybrids, we wanted to fill our collection with new hybrids so we started to trade with other collectors. We soon ran out of friends with other hybrids, so we started to go to "Green Scene".

It was not long before we recognized that we too could sell cuttings at the show, therefore we started to go to other growers and purchase larger plants, take off some of the cuttings sell them for as much as we paid for the plant, and still have the plant for our own collection.
